About

Skills Ontario Summer Camp is a week-long day program for kids entering grades 7-9. The program runs in various locations across the province during the months of July and August, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Through hands-on activities relevant to the skilled trades, campers develop communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Campers take part in hands-on counselor and industry-led workshops that introduce them to a variety of topics in the industrial, construction, motive power, services and technology sectors; they explore careers in skilled trades through interactive games, industry tours and entrepreneurship programs.

The camps are facilitated in partnership with colleges, industries and community volunteers who are committed to giving the campers an outstanding hands-on experience. Note that schedules vary per location based on available volunteers and programming.

Volunteer

The Skills Ontario Summer Camp workshops and tours are hosted by volunteer industry professionals. If you are qualified in an area of the skilled trades or technologies and would like to offer your support of this program by leading a workshop or tour of your business, please contact the Camp Manager by email (campmanager@skillsontario.com) or phone (1-807-475-6462).

The goal of a workshop or tour is to introduce and educate campers about a particular skilled trade or technology through hands-on activities that explore processes and techniques. Ideally, the workshops are a minimum of 2 - 3 hours in length (or a maximum of 5 hours). If you would like to support the camp by volunteering alongside our camp staff please complete and submit the Volunteer Application Form.
