In-School Presentations

For over 10 years, the Skills Canada – Ontario Liaison Team has worked hard to bring dialogue about career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies to the forefront for thousands of young Ontarians.  The “Skills Work!® What’s Out There?”, in-school presentation program is an informative and interactive multi-media presentation that is updated and revised on a yearly basis to provide current and relevant information that encourages students to investigate all of their post-secondary options.

In the last year alone, over 100,000 senior elementary and secondary students heard the important message that the skilled trades and technologies offer challenging and rewarding career opportunities with great future job prospects.

The PowerPoint presentation incorporates interactive dialogue, eye-opening statistics, a quiz challenge and inspiring videos highlighting careers in the skilled trades and technologies. Presentation topics include:

• information on trends in the world of work and the demand for skilled people
• the benefits of careers in the skilled trades and technologies
• steps to apprenticeship
• the importance of employability skills
• resources for further exploration

This program is available for both affiliated senior elementary and secondary schools and is available in both official languages.  Please note schools must be affiliated to access this program.
