“A Day in the Life at the Skills Ontario Competition”

We invite all attendees of the Skills Ontario Competition to share their amazing videos that capture their experience over the three-day event.

  • 68 skilled trade and technology contests
  • Elementary Career Awareness Workshops
  • Skills Ontario Career Exploration Showcase booths and demos
  • Young Women’s Conferences
  • First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Student Conference
  • Guinness World Record Attempt

……….. And much more!

 

What is your favourite part of the Skills Ontario Competition? Show us in a video! 

We will select from your submitted videos to create a video collage that shows what a Day in the Life at the Skills Ontario Competition is like!

The video will showcase the Skills Ontario Competition from the different points of view of our attendees, highlighting the diversity of what the Skills Ontario Competition means for each person.

The submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis, but should be received no later than May 19, 2017 to be considered for the first cut of the “A Day in the Life at the Skills Ontario Competition” video.  

 

VIDEO CONTENT AND SPECIFICATIONS

1.) Each attendee is encouraged record a video(s) that reflects their favourite part of the Skills Ontario Competition. Teachers may want to record their students competing or trying a hands-on demo at the Skills Ontario Competition. Sponsors may want to highlight a contest they’ve sponsored, or an activity at their showcase booth. You may want to record a video message that describes what you love about the Skills Ontario Competition. Skills Ontario invites you to get creative.

2.) Video specifications: 

  • Quality should be minimum 720p, ideally 1080p
  • Clips between 30-45 seconds each – please do not combine your original clips into one video file
  • Frame rate ideally 30FPS (this is standard on iPhone and Android phones, and most camcorders) – frame rate can be higher but if so please indicate upon submission as this will give an idea of in-house editing parameters
  • If using professional camera or camcorder equipment, please indicate the type of microphone that was used in the body of the submission email (for example: internal microphone if no additional equipment was attached, external microphone if a microphone was attached to the equipment such as handheld, lavalier, boom, shotgun)

    3.) Video submission process: 
  • Share your video files with Dropbox or Google Drive, using a sharable link and email to aramsay@skillsontario.com with subject line “Competition Video Clips.” In the body of the e-mail please indicate your school and school board/organization, location, and the names of any individuals featured in the video.
