Welcome to the Skills Canada – Ontario website - a resource to explore career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies!

Please browse this website to explore information about Skills Canada – Ontario’s annual programs and competitions. We are pleased to offer engaging experiential learning opportunities to both elementary and high schools students across the province. If you have any questions, or would like any additional information, please feel free to contact us.

In an effort to better serve our communities, Skills Canada – Ontario has opened offices in Peterborough, Toronto, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Ottawa.

Without the support of our colleagues from the education system, our programs would not achieve success. As a result of feedback from teachers and advisors, we introduced three new, successful programs this year; Elementary Cardboard Boat Races, Cardboard Sled Races and Student/Parent/Guardian Dinners. To all the teachers and advisors in the Province of Ontario who encourage their students, fellow teachers and their school boards to participate in programs offered by Skills Canada – Ontario, a very special thank you. You are the true champions of the success of this organization.

In January, of this year, Skills Canada – Ontario signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario. We are also pleased to announce that we have opened an office at La Cite College in Ottawa and we are excited about the opportunity of expanding our programs and our offices into more Community Colleges in the near future.

The financial support we receive from our Principal Partner Union Gas, a Duke Energy Company, continues to help raise awareness of the critical skills shortage in Northern Ontario. We also welcome Mohawk College and Carpenters’ Local 27 as this year’s new gold partners and we thank the following gold partners for their ongoing support: Automation Tooling Systems, CTV, Carhartt, the City of Waterloo, Government of Canada, Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Education, Algonquin College, Canadore College, Conestoga College, Fanshawe College, Georgian College, Humber College and Niagara College.

Thank you to our partners and the many volunteers who assist us throughout the year by sharing their time and talents with youth exploring career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies.

I would encourage youth who have participated in programs or competitions to join the Skills Canada – Ontario Alumni Association. As individuals, the Alumnus of Skills Canada – Ontario programs and competitions have much to offer other youth exploring their career opportunities. As a collective, Alumni can create positive change for future generations. Please contact ontarioalumni@skillscanada.com for more information.

Thank you for your interest in Skills Canada – Ontario!

With warmest regards,

Gail Smyth
Executive Director
