Volunteers Urgently Needed in Waterloo on Jan 29 & 30
Wednesday, 27 January 2010 17:24

The Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) is held annually at one Ontario engineering university - and attracts the top undergraduate engineering students from each of the 15 engineering faculties in the province. Students compete in 1 of 6 different competition categories, which range from hands-on design challenges to parliamentary debate and consulting engineering. This year, the event is taking place on the University of Waterloo campus, and at the Delta Hotel in Kitchener.

There are over 200 competitors, and 40 judges from industry involved. We currently have nearly 100 students (from the university) who have volunteered to help - but we are still in urgent need of 2 - 4 skilled volunteers with some background or experience working with power tools (carpenters, machinists, cabinetmakers, shop teachers, etc.) to help supervise a basic shop with limited power tools. These volunteers should be comfortable working with basic power woodworking tools (drill press, chop saw, skill saw). Volunteers will receive a t-shirt, lunch, and an invitation to attend our awards gala at the Delta Kitchener (with catered dinner).

Volunteers must be available during the following times:

Friday, January 29 8:30pm - 4:30am (this portion of the competition runs overnight) @ The University of Waterloo Main Campus
Saturday, January 30 8:30am - 12:30pm @ The University of Waterloo Main Campus

If you are available for one or both of these shifts, please let us know today (Wednesday) - We would very much appreciate any help!

Thank You,
Stephen Lake
