What are the Elementary Challenges?
The Elementary Challenges provide a forum for teams of elementary students from across the province to apply science and technology curriculum.  The challenges are competitive with students vying to be the best in Ontario in the following areas:

  • Character Animation
  • Construction
  • Health and Safety
  • Lego Mechanics
  • Lego Robotics
  • Technology
  • TV & Video Production
  • Green Energy

When and Where are the Elementary Challenges?
The Elementary Challenges are part of the Ontario Technological Skills Competition. They take place each May at RIM Park and Manulife Sportsplex in Waterloo, Ontario. In 2014, the challenges will take place on Monday, May 5. 

Who can participate?
Most Challenges are offered at two levels. One level for grade 4 to 6 students and another for grade 7 and 8 students. Teams are made up of students from an affiliated school. Teams are registered by their school board.   

How should I prepare for my Elementary Challenge?
• Ensure that you are registered. Competitors’ spaces are reserved at the school board level.
• Review the scope (a document that provides all the details on each challenge).  Scopes are posted beginning in January and are subject to change up to one month before the competition date. You can access the scope by clicking here.
• Ensure that you pack all necessary safety equipment and tools (listed in the scope)
