On Tuesday, May 8, 150 Indigenous students will take part in a day of skilled trades and technologies career exploration and mentorship

Over 2,300 students to compete in events at Toronto Congress Centre from May 7-9, 2018

More than 1,500 female students to explore careers in skilled trades, technologies.

Heads of Technology (HOT), Skills Ontario and the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) have launched a brand new interactive online course to educate Ontario youth about the opportunities for amazing careers in technology in Ontario.

Skills Ontario has nearly 200 volunteer mentors across the province, and each volunteer brings a vital voice to the advancement of young women entering skilled trades and technology careers.

Cameron McLean started volunteering with Skills Ontario as an Event Marshal for the Skills Ontario Competition last year – where he “was a real trooper,” adds Maresa MacAskill, our Director of Competitions. Cameron continued volunteering over the summer as a workshop leader at the Skills Ontario Summer Camp at Loyalist College.

Shane and Carlijn Kennedy are dedicated volunteers who use their own vacation time to help with the set up and tear down of the Skills Ontario Competition for the last several years.

This National Volunteer Week, we would like to recognize the invaluable work of all our volunteers!

Held at seven colleges across the province, qualifying competitions ensure that the most prepared and talented students ultimately compete at the Skills Ontario Competition. Competitions were held for four of the most popular contests at the secondary-school level: 2D Character Animation, Carpentry Individual, Culinary Arts, and Welding.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario (ECAO) work together to provide a strong and vibrant apprenticeship program recognized as number one across the electrical industry.
